Natural Nina and Wash Day have teamed up once again for a giveaway that was requested by one of my YouTube subbies. I was contacted on YouTube about the previous Wash Day giveaway that I did, and Robbin (owner of Wash Day) and I thought it would be a good idea to do a new giveaway, especially since she has expanded her line recently. Robbin offered up five products for the Wash Day Conditioning Pack Giveaway, and I’m going to list each product below with a picture and the ingredients of each product. Then, you all will have the opportunity to enter the giveaway for a chance to win.

Featured Natural Beauties: Meet Melani of iRock Natural

How long have you been a beauty with natural hair?

It will be three years on May 29, 2013!

Who or What inspired you to embrace your natural hair and your overall
natural beauty?

I was trying to get healthier and into better shape, which inspired me to embrace my natural hair and overall natural beauty. When I first went natural, I was working out frequently and it was a great alternative for my hair.

Did you transition from a relaxer, or did you do the big chop?

I big chopped after wearing my hair in kinky twists for about 3 months.

What is your current hair care routine?

I wash my hair weekly or biweekly (depending upon if my hair is in a protective style or not). My wash routine consists of the following: pre-poo, shampoo, condition, deep condition under my steamer and then I style. I use the LOC method during my styling. I use water and Kinky Curly Knot Today as my leave-in, Coconut Oil is my favorite oil, and Bee Mine Curly Butter is my favorite cream.

Who or What Defines Your Natural Hair?

Who or what defines your natural hair? I ask this question because I few days ago, a picture came down my Facebook timeline about the exact subject. In the picture in the article, you can see a naturalista pulling her hair out, while listening to all the various standards that people have about natural hair. Have you ever experienced anything like this? I feel that too many folks want to put their own labels on who and what’s considered natural, as well as what natural styles are appropriate. It makes me feel like the freedom of our journey’s could easily get lost in trying to keep up with whatever the standards is. Anyway, who made these standards in the first place? Who decided that twist-outs are the go to style, and a undefined fro is unkempt hair? Who decided that a natural with colored hair is not a true natural. More importantly, what message do these so called standards send to young girls or an aspiring natural beauty?

IMG_20130325_165131

I had the wonderful opportunity to receive the 2013 Sugar ‘N Spice VoxBox from Influenster. Now, this is only my second VoxBox, so I was quite excited to see what products would be inside, with a name like Sugar ‘N Spice. When the box arrived, I opened it, and the very first thing that I noticed was the Colgate Optic White Products. hero_homeI laughed to myself because I was just in Walmart a day or two before that, looking a teeth whitening products, and wondering which ones really worked. Therefore, I was excited to give this regimen a try, to see of I noticed an overall difference in my teeth. After about a week of using the products, I did notice a slight difference in my teeth, so I’m going to continue using the product line for a while because it’s inexpensive. Colgate Optic White Toothpaste is only $2.99 for 4oz the mouthwash is also $2.99 for 8oz. bottle, and the toothbrush $2.99 per brush.
